Through January and February 2019, Inquiry Chair Dame Silvia Cartwright held a series of introductory meetings with the Greater Christchurch Claims Resolution Service, the Earthquake Commission (EQC), the Insurance Council of New Zealand, Southern Response, the Christchurch City Council and the Independent Ministerial Adviser Christine Stevenson (who reported on EQC operations to the Minister Responsible for the Earthquake Commission).

In these meetings Dame Silvia outlined the scope and process of the Inquiry, and the various parties shared some initial insights. Discussions were held on some early issues of interest.

Dame Silvia also attended Christchurch’s “Tuesday Club” to speak to a packed house of interested locals about the Inquiry, and fielded a series of questions about the Inquiry’s scope and approach.
